Love is in the air at Jack E. Singley Academy as the Valentine’s Day festivities begin. The aroma of fresh flowers and the sight of chocolate boxes fill the hallways as the students rush to give their gifts as a sign of admiration to their loved ones. But the main attraction here at Singley is the Valentine’s Day Carnival.
The Valentine’s Carnival is an event hosted by Singley’s very own Spirit Crew as a way to bring people together to celebrate the ones they love. The Carnival is free to enter with small fees for the stations hosted by various clubs.
The stations include a bunch of activities for students to partake in and make this event a memorable one.
It ranges from craft booths like making keychains and flower crowns all the way to enjoying food like Elotes and Aguas Frescas. The variety of booths and activities make it so that the carnival caters to the masses.
But this event is more than just about eating good food and making trinkets to take home. It’s about the environment the school creates to cherish the people closest to you.
“It’s just to spend time with people you love in general, (and) be around people who make you happy” is what a student here at the school replied with when asked what they thought the meaning behind Valentine’s was.
So, regardless if your way of displaying love is by making grand gestures or doing small acts of kindness, make sure the people most important to you know that they are cherished in light of this endearing holiday.
